The ‘Bus for Progress’ from the ‘Stop the Frack Attack’ march, on Saturday, 7/28/12

Bus for Progress chants from the ‘Stop the Frack Attack’ march
Saturday, July 28, 2012, US Capitol

Above is a short video of the end of the march Saturday, and the very vocal ‘Bus for Progress’  group from central New Jersey , who so kindly gave Kathie and I a ride for most of the march, escaping from the heat. The bus also picked up several other elderly who had collapsed along side the march route as we went along.

Overview of the rally in the beginning of the ‘StoptheFrackAttack’ at the Capitol

You will see Kathie A. and a quick view of Padma (MoveOn Sullivan ) and others from MoveOn and various other progressive groups a the “StoptheFrackAttack’ march on Saturday, July 28, 2012, on the ‘grotto’ area outside the US Capitol.

Another successful coalition of many groups as far as Ohio and North Carolina, joined many from NY, NJ, PA and the Northeast, including, ‘NYagainstfracking.org’. ‘350.org’ (Bill McKibben), the ‘Sierra Club’, our sponsor, ‘Catskill Mountainkeeper’.  Thanks for the opportunity to Carolyn and the rest. 23 Sullivan residents, including myself, were able to go. Thanks to your fabulous bus driver, Andy, who was ‘longsuffering’. A long but successful day, despite dangerous heat, for many, and the long day.  Democracy now had a short clip from the march today, (Monday, July 30), announcing thousands in the crowd.

Reporting , Bob Dorn

Headline: “Sullivan strips sheriff of 911 center control”

Sullivan legislature July 18, 2012

Kathie Aberman, one of several who spoke in support of ‘open government’ proposal brought by Kitty Vetter.

Wanted to write more about this yesterday, but the Colorado shooting tragedy intervened. Kathie A. spoke and a few others on the ‘Open Government’ resolution brought before the Sullivan Legislature, on Thursday, July 18. Myself (Bob Dorn), Kathie and Marshall Rubin from Moveon Sullivan were present, amongst others supporting the effort. The Record covered the main story, the 911 control center. Our resolution against Citizen’s United was voted on earlier and passed.

“The One Percent”, a documentary by Jamie Johnson of the Billionaire family of ‘Johnson & Johnson’

“The One Percent”

This 80-minute documentary focuses on the growing “wealth gap” in America, as seen through the eyes of filmmaker Jamie Johnson, a 27-year-old heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune. Johnson, who cut his film teeth at NYU and made the Emmy®-nominated 2003 HBO documentary Born Rich, here sets his sights on exploring the political, moral and emotional rationale that enables a tiny percentage of Americans – the one percent – to control nearly half the wealth of the entire United States. The film Includes interviews with Nicole Buffett, Bill Gates Sr., Adnan Khashoggi, Milton Friedman, Robert Reich, Ralph Nader and other luminaries.

I have been watching this documentary and am amazed at the audacity, and non caring attitude of the Super Rich.
